Chart of quality 4 C's to choose a
precious stone
|
In each variety of precious stones, the quality
affects of spectacular way the price: a stone can be sold
for 100 $ or 2.000.000 $. When buying a
stone, we most of bought the best quality according to the
recommendation of the expert jewelers. To choose a small stone of
great quality is preferable that a big
stone of low quality or is to buy a semiprecious stone of great
quality if your budget is limited. The
gems that people more master and
know mainly are the diamonds, the rubies, the emeralds and the
sapphire, that have been through the centuries, the true precious
stones.
The quality of a precious stone is moderate according to a quality
chart that includes:
• Color
• Clarity
• Cut
• Carats (weight)
This value of quality is evaluated according to the
"4 C's
The
color is the most important factor. A false idea and very
expanded is to judge a darker color, more intense, of greater
quality, this is not certain, since the color can be very dark or
very intense like some sapphires that can seem blacker than blue. If
the color of a stone is very intense, then we will see it without
luminosity and life. A simple rule concerning the color is to
observe if the stone is more shining, richer, more shining and
lives. In general, in each variety of stone, an average light of
very intense and saturated color is the primary factor that must be
considered for the color. Observe the color from different points of
view under a white light.
The clarity is the next important factor that
affects the quality or the value of stones and the clear transparence
that they contain some visible imperfections or defects is looked
for. Some varieties of precious stones, in
particular the emerald and the red tourmaline, are very rare
without inclusions or imperfections. Some others are looked for by
their imperfections, since they can create phenomenal stars! The
imperfections also can be a track of particular print of a
well-known mine.
The cut is something paid not expensive, but
it can add or rest much to the beauty of the stone. A good cut of
all the faces of the stone will reflect the light of equal way when
it is maintained on top. If the stone is very deep and narrows, the
reflections of the facets would be dark. If she is little deep and
ample, the reflections of the stone will be absent and inanimate.
The Carats or the weight of stones is the
factor that influences the value (not to confuse it with the size).
1 Carat corresponds to a fifth part (1/5)
of a gram and the weight in gram affects the weight
: the big stones are very rare,
then the price by carat is upper.
In general the evaluation of a stone depends on great
the good senses. Plus the final visual effect of all the factors of
quality they are elevated: greater it is the value and the price.
